During this fictional project for the VPRO I did some research on the history of media, from the invention of the printing press to the Internet and discovered that the telegraph caused globalization to really get going.

Telegraphy had major consequences for humanity and the way we live now. Actually, every new form of media have had its influence and people have become dependent on them. Sendman criticizes this development.

The installation exists out of a wall painting plus two wires connected to two buildings opposite of eachother with a statue - including a sound installation in the head of the statue - in between one of the wires.

People walking near the installation get a message via bluetooth telling them they can send a message for free at www.sendmantele.com. Sendman - the statue hanging on the wire - speaks out the messages users send.
The messages would never actually arrive.
